Hi. Welcome to ReassessPress.com, the website for readers of Notes from the Flesh. I am happy you stopped in. Before you explore the place, let me tell you a few things about the author, Thomas Odeski a.k.a. me.
I was born and raised in Fullerton, California. My father and grandfather put their signature mark on my personality. These men built things.
By inclination and background my school studies should have focused on the concrete, the practical, the hands-on. Perhaps a trade. But no. In college I studied American history and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Biola University. I went on to pursue (and receive) a graduate degree in history from Texas A&M University. With all those years of study and training, you’d think I’d have continued my academic work and sought a career teaching. But no. I learned a trade instead, and built a small business in Dallas, Texas. My wife, Susan, and I also built a family. We raised four children together, and during those years we built two of the homes we raised them in.
While plying a trade, nurturing a family, and building a business are necessary and gratifying, often joyful, I never lost my appetite for important writers. I read books. Books that incisively illuminate the human condition; books that expand an understanding of ourselves beyond the chaos and superficial turbulence of the daily news cycle; books that have helped me build my own take on the human condition and the world we occupy.
Notes from the Flesh: An Experiment in Self-Help Fiction is my first book. In it, I give expression to that construction project which was in the works all along.
I hope you’ll look around, participate in some suggested discussions and activities, leave questions and comments, and return any time. And call me Tom. I’ll be right here.
